Ranking The Best Christmas Movies of All Time

Colin Reis, Staff Writer

Jingle Bells, Hot Chocolate, Snow, and most importantly, Christmas movies. Christmas movies are an essential during the Christmas season. So what are the best Christmas movies to watch? Without further ado, here is a top 5 Christmas movie list.

Honorable Mentions:

  • The Grinch: Overhyped. Jim Carry being the Grinch was honestly scary and weird. The story of the Grinch is just not a good story.

  • Christmas Carol: Great ending of the movie, but everything before it is terrible, creepy, and not happy.

  • Miracle on 34th Street: Personally, I think this is a great movie that exemplifies what Santa should be and is like. Overall, it is very heartfelt and has a great ending.

Top 5:

  1. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

  • The original is an absolute classic. Such a great story that has you rooting for Rudolph the whole time. What I also like about this film is the quality of it as Animagic was used to make this film which adds a really nice touch to the film.

  1. Home Alone

  • This movie only gets funnier and funnier. The pranks at the end of the movie are top tier. It’s a movie that makes the Christmas season lighthearted.

  1. Polar Express

  • “Hot Chocolate”! There are so many great scenes in this movie. Whether it be the train racing across the ice or the famous hot chocolate scene, it’s a must watch.

  1. Elf

  • I don’t even think I need to write much about this cinematic masterpiece. Christmas. Will Ferrell. Christmas. All that needs to be said. Go watch it.

  1. It’s a Wonderful Life

  • Picking a number 1 Christmas movie is always difficult. But when you have a movie like this, the choice is simple. “It’s a Wonderful Life” is number 1 for so many reasons. This movie may not be each person’s favorite movie, but it deserves to be #1. It embodies the Christmas spirit and shows you what Christmas is all about.
