JV Basketball Win Two Straight as the Rams Improve to 9-7

George Fagan, Staff Writer

The JV basketball team has been overlooked all season. These Rams have been continuing to fight hard as Coach Muoio’s coaching style seems to be working. The Rams were on fire in the middle of the season with the addition of John Pirone, going undefeated for a number of games. When they ran into New Providence, they were a bit unprepared given their coach was out for a game. The Rams would drop two to New Providence and one to Scotch Plains in an over-time thriller. The boys would have to then face their rivals down the street, Summit, who came in losing three straight. JV would be up for a while, but let Summit into the game at the half. Summit would take the lead at the end of the third quarter; however, Max Cook, John Pirone, and Julian Stauffer would all hit clutch shots to take this game into overtime. The Rams would later propel to victory and finish the game with a John Pirone buzzer beater layup.

The Rams would come into Rutgers Prep as underdogs just two days after their hard fought victory against Summit. The boys would use their energy and skill to win by 11 points led by Max Cook. The Rams would later gritty their way out of Piscataway with a win, having a record over 500. These boys are absolutely not finished and have another game on Saturday against Scotch Plains. This young team stands at 9-7 and is not done yet.
