Middle School Baseball 2024 Recap

Middle+School+Baseball+2024+Recap

The Oratory Prep Rams Middle School Baseball Team was one of the most exciting teams to watch in the 23-24 school year. With so much young talent, the Rams were able to maintain an undefeated record of 9-0. Yes the undefeated record is something to be proud of, but there was an even better takeaway this season that will get Ram fans even more ecstatic. Coach Maybe, in his second season as middle school baseball coach after stepping down from varsity, was able to lead these young Rams to a middle school championship after defeating Rutgers Prep at home. The boys achieved the #1 seed in the tournament as it would run through Cavelero Field. In the championship game Brendan Keown and Patrick Keown pitched brilliantly to lead OP, and Luke Cusack closed things out. Brendan Keown scored three runs with two singles, a double, and a triple. Marco Vessecchia scored a run and finished with a single and a double. These boys would be the key players this season as all of their two way playing abilities were a huge asset to this team. Another thing to mention about this team was that they were the only Oratory team to beat Delbarton this year across any sport. The Rams defeated the Greenwave 13-10 with the help of Kellen Costello, Matty Dvorscak, and Marco Vessecchia all pitching very well. Brendan Keown led the offense that game with 2 singles and a double and scored 2 runs, as Marco Vessecchia had 3 singles and scored a run. These boys would cap off the perfect 9-0 season with this win and signify themselves as a middle school team to be remebered for time to come here at OP. This team contained lots of talent as the 8th graders who played are going to definently help the high school program in a significant way while the 7th graders are going to try to go back to back.
