Baseballs weren’t the only things being hit in Denver on May 12. It was the 6th inning when a crazed San Diego Padres fan broke the 6-foot COVID bubble and sucker-punched a Rockies fan, knocking him out like a rag doll and sending his glasses flying. It was lights out for the Rockies fan as he fell like a sack of potatoes. The entire debacle was so utterly shocking that it took about 8 solid seconds for people to react. The Padres fan was soon charged by about 5 surrounding fans and he was eventually put into a headlock and detained until the police arrived at the scene.

At this point, we do not know what the motive was, but in my professional (wink, wink) opinion, there was probably a reason the altercation took place. What is interesting about the situation is that no arrests or charges were made. Maybe the “victim” is not so innocent after all. All the situation will remain hazy, one thing remains clear, never underestimate the right hook of an angry Padres fan.
