Last Monday Oratory defeated Scotch Plains in a much-needed conference win. After a couple of tough losses to Verona, the Rams needed a win. It was ultimately the Jarvis line that made that happen.

After the first period, the game remained scoreless. However, Oratory established their dominance spending most of the period in Scotch Plains’s zone, firing a substantial amount of shots on their goaltender. Darren Keaveny was also tested this period, stopping every shot that came his way.

In the second period, Scotch Plains struck first on the powerplay giving them a 1-0 lead. Minutes later Luke Jacobello responded on the Rams powerplay by knocking one in the backdoor, tying the game. A couple of shifts later, Jacobello, Jarvis, and Moran created themselves a 3-2 rush where Will Moran found top shelf off of Jacobello’s rebound. To finish the period off Luke Jacobello scored again, picking up a scrum in front and putting the puck past the Scotch Plains goalie, giving Oratory the 3-1 lead.

The third period remained was a majority of back and forth play until Will Moran hit Jeff Jarvis for a long stretch pass giving Jarvis the breakaway goal, essentially securing the victory for Oratory. With just seconds left in the game though Scotch Plains scored again. It wouldn’t be enough for them though as Oratory would win 4-2.
