OP JV Soccer Update

Dillan McMahon and Mike Roper

Who better than the backup goalie, Mike Roper, and self-nominated captain of the bench, Dillan McMahon, to recap the start of the JV soccer season.  After many long practices filled with conditioning, the team’s first game had finally arrived.  Against Jonathan Dayton, the Rams edged out their rivals 4-3 thanks to a goal scored by freshman Jeremy Arroyo-Flores in the last ten minutes of the game.  The next game was against David Brearly with the Rams coasting to 2-0 to start the season by defeating their opponents 5-1.  The team’s hopes of an undefeated season were however crushed within a week after Governor Livingston handed JV soccer their first ‘L’.  The Rams however persevered and defeated their next opponent, Roselle Park, 1-0.  Nick Sannito was named game MVP after tallying 12 saves in goal.  The team’s next opponent was Linden who had beat Governor Livingston just a few days before.  However, the team went into the game with the right attitude and came out of the first half leading the Linden Tigers 4-0.  Linden would, however, pick up their act by outscoring the Rams 3-1 in the second half, despite this the team held onto the lead to come to 4-1 on the season.  The next opponent, Abraham Clark, would hand the Rams a crushing 2-1 defeat.  The JV team looks to keep their winning record throughout the season and continue getting better.
