Giants Edge out the Saints, Improve to 2-0

Lucas Toglia, Staff Writer

Last year the Giants started out 0-2. This year they are 2-0. This is in thanks to big changes including a solid defensive roster that limited the Saints to just 13 points. The Giants scored for the first time in the second quarter when they blocked a field goal and Janoris Jenkins recovered the football and ran it for 65 yards to score. Later the Saints kicked a field goal to end the half at 7-3. In the second half, the Giants kicked a 19-yard field goal to expand their lead to 10-3. In the fourth quarter, Drew Brees threw to Willie Snead for the touchdown to tie the game up at 10. The Giants would kick a field goal to take a 3 point lead but the Saints came back a kicked a field goal to tie the game up at 13. At the very end of the game, Eli was able to put Josh Brown in field goal range to kick a 23-yard field goal to win the game 16-13. Despite beating the Saints, a team with terrible defense, the Giants only scored once on a touchdown and Eli Manning wasn’t even on the field. The Giants should be happy about their win and a solid start to the season but if they want to be competitive all season long Eli Manning and the offense is going to have to think long and hard about how they are going to rack up points this season.
