Nintendo has finally released more information about the Nintendo Switch. New games have also been announced to come out alongside the console.

Specific details for the Switch were the major focus of the presentation. The console will be releasing on March 3, for $300, and the battery life will be about 3 to 6 hours long but the console will be sold with an adapter. Nintendo has also confirmed that online services will be returning, but it will be payed for after the first few months of the system’s release. There is also a touch pad so backwards compatibility with the Wii U may still be possible.

The major launch titles for the Nintendo switch will be Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and 1-2 Switch, a game similar to the likes of Nintendo Land that will show off the unique gameplay that can be created on the Switch. Many more games are just on the horizon for the console. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a remastering of the original game with all the DLC and a new battle mode. Spatoon 2, the sequel to the 2015 Wii U hit, and Super Mario Odyssey, the next 3D platformer for the Italian plumber, are all going to release throughout the spring. Nintendo’s new IP, Arms, is also going to debut on the system. However, major third-party support is still unknown.

The Switch appears to be Nintendo’s stepping stone into the modern gaming market. Many have criticised Nintendo in the past for not adapting with the times and still creating gimmicks for their consoles. However, while the Switch does fit into the mold for a Nintendo system, the company seemed to have finally learned from the past mistakes. If the Nintendo Switch succeeds, it may finally push the developers back to the top of the videogame industry.
