Oratory’s Spirit Week is normally in the fall but due to lunch occupying the gym due to the construction of the new building, Spirit Week was delayed. However, now that the cafeteria is finished and the gym is open, January 30th marks the beginning of Spirit Week for the 2016-2017 school year. If you are interested in participating you need to act NOW! The deadlines are nearing. You need to have your dodgeball forms filled out by Tuesday, January 24th and your talent show forms filled out by the 28th. New talent show ideas must be filled out on the paper forms. If you had previously filled out an electronic form then you are good to go (this applies to the Talent Show and Dodgeball).

Spirit Week Breakdown:

Monday, the 30th, is USA day. Be ready to show your RAMerica pride. This is a dress down day for those repping red, white, and blue.

Tuesday’s theme is “blast from the past” the dress code for dress down is to dress in clothing of any previous decade. Both Monday and Tuesday will follow regular bell schedules

Wednesday, the first day of February, is the day of the annual dodgeball tournament. You all better show off your skills and dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. The theme for the day is college or sports jersey dress down. The tournament begins at 1:15 due to a Late-X schedule.

Thursday is a normal schedule where the theme is beach/Hawaiian dress down. There will also be morning and lunch giveaways.

Friday marks the end of an awesome week. It is also the day everyone awaits. It is the day of the Oratory Prep talent show! Who’s ready to see Brian Windish and Joe Garibaldi dance on stage with their ribbons? Or see Nick Browne fall down on the stage again? Just remember there are always exciting and unexpected surprises that day. The dress down theme for that day is OP gear. Remember to wear blue and gold that day and show your OP pride.

Spirit week is one of the (if not the most) exciting weeks of the year. This year is truly a historic OP Spirit week as 2017 will likely have two spirit weeks (if the normal tradition continues next school year) and it will likely be the last Spirit Week in the old gym. There are many opportunities to get involved without spending any time outside of school. I hope you all have fun. Get ready to show your OP Pride!
