Today, I am going to talk about the Second Round of the NHL Playoffs, specifically the winning teams.
Eastern Conference Finals: Carolina Hurricanes vs. Montreal Canadiens
Carolina Hurricanes: Dominating
So far, in the entire playoffs, the Hurricanes have not lost a single game. They easily swept the Senators and Flyers. As of right now, they are currently the favorite to face off against the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Final. The real star for the Hurricanes is goaltender Frederik Andersen, putting up an impressive .952 save percentage.
Montreal Canadiens: The Underdog
The Canadiens are pulling off the ultimate underdog story. Last night (5/18), they beat the 1-seed Buffalo Sabres in Game 7 in overtime. The score was 3-2. Jakub Dobes is playing impressively between the pipes for the Habs, and young star Lane Hutson is proving that he is the ultimate playmaking defenseman. Will the Habs pull off the ultimate underdog story?
Western Conference Finals: Vegas Golden Knights vs. Colorado Avalanche
Vegas Golden Knights: Meeting Expectations
The Golden Knights are meeting the expectations that everyone has set for them: make the Western Conference Finals, nothing less. They held off the red-hot Anaheim Ducks, winning the series 4-2. They have been locked down on defense too. Nothing special out of Vegas, but they are playing at the standard.
Colorado Avalanche: Predicted Champions
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has the Avalanche winning it all this year. They dominated the regular season, easily winning the Presidents’ Trophy. When it comes to the playoffs, they have only lost one game. If they beat the Golden Knights, it will be smooth sailing from there.
