Invincible season 4 has concluded. With all of the crazy fight scenes, character development, and lore revealed, this season may take the crown for the best made so far. Noticeable highlights from this season was the introduction of the story’s main antagonist, Thragg, the Viltrumite War, the destruction of the planet Viltrum, and the reveal that the Viltrumites have gone to Earth to reproduce. In this article, we will share our thoughts on the latest season, which we both received well.
Michael: I thought this season was truly the best one yet; it beats my favorite season, which was season 2. This season started off poorly, but quickly bounced back with the Viltrumite War. In the beginning, we got to see Tech Jacket, a character shown, yet not fully revealed, last season during the Invincible War. Unlike the comics, she is female, as she is named Zoe Thompson as opposed to the comic’s Zach Thompson. The first part of the season showed Allen and Nolan going across outer space to recruit people to join the Coalition’s cause. This included Battle Beast, Tech Jacket, and even an old enemy, Space Racer. Once they all joined the Coalition, Allen and Nolan went to Earth to get Mark and Oliver to join. It was very cool to see Debbie and Nolan interact again as the last time they did was when Nolan killed a lot of people on Earth. The Viltrumite War was underwhelming at first, but quickly showed a lot of action. From Mark finally killing Conquest, to Oliver almost dying, it was intense. After the war, Thragg commands the Viltrumites to go to Earth to repopulate their species. Based on how it left off between Mark and Thragg regarding this matter, I can’t wait to see what happens next in season 5.
Xavier: One of the best seasons if not the best in animated television. I feel like this season barely beats out Season 1 and 3, where we see multiple characters grow and best of all, the fight scene in Episode 7. We learn about the beginning of Thragg’s reign and how Viltrum was under him. Now we see a desolate Viltrum which explodes at the end of the episode. The cherry on top was the surprise reveal of the Viltrumites on Earth. The subtle ending of the season with not much action really happening but Mark suffering from PTSD is so telling about the mood. The ominous mood that anything can happen. My personal favorite moments were the fight on Viltrum in episode 7, Nolan and Oliver’s bonding on the planet, Mark’s intro on Talescria and my favorite moment, Mark and Conquest fight in episode 5. This season was a 9.9/10 and I have the highest hopes for this show. Can’t wait for season 5.
