I want to preface this by saying that I have not read the book so this is from a pure movie perspective. Of course this will contain spoilers so please click off to avoid them.
Project Hail Mary was, in my eyes, an amazing film. It was humorous, fun, and managed to get you attached to a spiderlike rock alien named “Rocky”. The plot was very well written; after doing research on the movie, since it was originally a book, they had to cut stuff to make it a movie. To make a movie this well and condense a lot of information is very impressive and sets it apart from a lot of book-adaptions of movies. The movie also made you feel something. There is a scene where Grace, the main character, needs to collect anaphage from a Pavlova line (need to watch the movie to understand). It’s hard to explain but this part is amazing, there is loud music, the scenery is beautiful and it is a stand out moment in the film. Rocky the alien has two fake-out deaths in the movie which makes the watcher feel sad in a way, but happy when he turns out to be alive. Overall, the cinematography, emotions conveyed and pure plot of the movie make it a 9.5/10 for me and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a good movie.
