After moving from a comic book series to an animated TV show as well, Invincible has seemingly attracted a large audience. Whether it is people who were big fans of the comics or newcomers to what Robert Kirkman has to offer, the overall reception has been pretty positive. Currently, the show is in its 4th season, with around 7 or 8 seasons planned to fully capture the comic’s story. Due to the events that happened in the comics where the TV show currently is, this season has been hyped up to be one of the most engaging and entertaining yet. In this article, we will give our thoughts on the first “half” of the season.
Michael: So far, the fourth season has been nothing short of a masterpiece. After season 3 concluded with Mark’s battle against Conquest, questions regarding the future of the heroes and the planets of Viltrum and Earth arose. Within the first three seasons, there has been a common theme of sympathy regarding Mark, as he seemingly can’t bring himself to kill even the most fatal of enemies. With that said, he pays the price this time as Conquest is seemingly still alive. We see him shift away from this “relenting” side as he kills an innocent man who was controlled by a sequid. Furthermore, the best episode of the season and one of the best in the whole show so far was episode 2, which explored Omni-Man’s backstory, how the Viltrumites almost went extinct, and Omni-Man and Allen on their quest to recruit allies to help fight against the Viltrumites, leading to the Viltrumite War. This is one of the most anticipated events in the series yet. I personally believe that the season is headed in a good direction and I am excited to see what comes next.
Xavier: The first four episodes of the new season have been a great build up to what is coming in the latter half of the season. Our hero Mark Grayson has been struggling with a moral dilemma of killing those who threaten serious harm. While Mark struggles with this, his father Omni-man returns to Earth at the end of episode 4. This comes as a shock to many as the last time Omni-man was on Earth, he fought Invincible and killed thousands. However, the reason he is back is for war. The viltrumites are looking for a conflict and a war is imminent. This is what the season has been building to and to add on, this season has been entertaining and hilarious. So, the rest of the season looks on a good trajectory.
