With the Lent season at its more than halfway point, I decided to interview a person of faith during this religious season. That person is Mrs. Bajkowski, Oratory Prep’s religion teacher. Here’s how the interview went.
Question 1. How does it feel to be a religion teacher here at OP?
It feels like a true blessing to be a religion teacher at Oratory Prep. I am blessed to be able to share my faith and my experiences with my relationship with God in an environment that is open and caring. I am truly blessed!
Question 2. Who or what inspired you to teach religion?
The person who inspired me the most was my 7th grade language arts teacher Sister Anne
Question 3. How have you shown your faith to God?
I try and live my life according to what I believe God is calling me to do and constantly trying to be a better person, the person God wants me to be. I remain faithful to him.
Question 4. How has Lent been for you so far?
It’s been a good Lent and I find that teaching Lent to my students makes me more aware of the neeed for this season of preparation in my life.
Question 5. Did you give up anything for Lent?
I try to increase in what I do, especially when it comes to my prayer life. So, I gave up the distractions that keep me from a deeper prayer life. Thats what I did for this Lent.
Question 6. What are some aspects people should know before giving up something in Lent?
Giving up something should be a form of sacrifice and that sacrifice should be meaningful.
Question 7. What is, in your opinion, the most important tradition in Lent?
The most important tradition in Lent is purposely and meaningfully spending time in prayer, making sacrifices, and giving to those in need.
Question 8. If you were to add another tradition, what would it be?
I think if you follow the 3 pillars: Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Then this season of preparation will lead to a truly joyous celebration of the resurrection.
Question 9. How does the season of Lent make you feel personally?
The season of Lent causes me to be more introspective, reflective, and it makes me feel closer to Jesus.
Question 10. How does the season of Lent make you closer to God?
By following the 3 pillars and praying and remembering Jesus’ sacrifice, I feel closer to him and want to do what I can for those who are in need.
