Here at Oratory, we are lucky enough to be offered auditions to Oak Knoll’s annual Dramatica and Musical. The Musical this year happens to be the Addams family, and I want to give everyone here an insider look on how we operate for rehearsals.
First, after auditions, we receive our scripts and begin rehearsals of the music. This typically takes the longest as the harmonies in songs need to be perfect to give the audience a show of a lifetime. We then begin with the character blocking. I was cast as Uncle Fester and Davi was cast as cousin Itt. For these roles, we need to research and embody the characters as much as possible. Enough with the training, let’s get into what the musical is about this year.
The Musical follows the internal struggles of the classic Addams family getting into their shenanigans. Wednesday gets a boyfriend, Gomez hides secrets from Morticia, Pugsley gets scared his sister will leave him and many more problems like these arise. The show revolves around trying to fix said problems and give a happy ending to the ordinary family. It is truly a spectacular show that you do not want to miss. It would be wonderful if the Oratory community could support Oak Knoll and our brothers participating in the musical.
The show is February 26-28, and tickets are on sale now! It’s a humorous show worth watching, so we hope to see you there!
