As a Yankees fan, I am used to being a fan of a hated team and being argued with about it. However, some of that weight has fallen off, and transferred to another team: The Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers have been hated for many reasons, but today, I am gonna highlight two specific ones: the World Series and Signing Star players.
Reason #1: World Series history
In recent years, the Dodgers have done quite well in the World Series. They won the past two, and have other notable wins and appearances in the last 10 years. We saw the Yankees being made fun of in 2024 when they lost to the Dodgers, but in 2025, everything changed. The Toronto Blue Jays, one of the most loved teams in the MLB (not by me), went up against (you guessed it) the Dodgers. Everyone that was not a Dodgers fan wanted the Blue Jays to win, and it seemed like that was going to be the case, until the Dodgers came back and ended up winning the series. Now, everyone is trying to stop a 3 peat, but it is going to be hard
Reason #2: Signing Star Players
It feels like the Dodgers have money growing on trees. Ever since the Dodgers signed Shohei Ohtani for 700 Million dollars back in 2023, people started hating the Dodgers for this reason. They also got Mookie Betts (a superstar second basemen), Tommy Edman (A pretty well-known shortstop), Freddie Freeman, and recently got Outfielder Kyle Tucker and closing Pitcher Edwin Diaz. Now all the Mets fans know how it feels to lose a player to a rival team. This is causing it to be very hard to stop the Dodgers from winning the World Series and going for a Potential three peat next year.
In conclusion, I think that these are the two main reasons why the Dodgers are starting to become one of the most hated teams in the MLB.
