If you’re a Yankees fan just like me, you are probably filled with anger and a little confusion. I wouldn’t blame you. Out of all 30 teams in the MLB, the Yankees are the lone team that hasn’t added a new player. What makes this even more weird is that the Yankees have the highest payroll in the league, so most think that it wouldn’t be that hard to sign someone. But that is just the problem. The Yankees have so many players worth a lot of money that it makes it very hard to sign someone. Unlike other sports that have a salary cap, MLB teams use all of their money for everything, from Stadium food to star players.
The Yankees tried landing a re-sign with outfielder Cody Bellinger, but were unsuccessful, as Bellinger’s request was a little too high in terms of money for New York. Then you have a loss of players, as the notorious New York Mets snagged ex-Yankees pitchers Luke Weaver and Devin Williams. However, all hope is not lost. At the time of this article, the Yankees are currently interested in Shortstop Bo Bichette and Outfielder Kyle Tucker. Both players are pretty young, and were considered star players on their old teams. Will the Yankees finally sign a player, or even trade for another one?
