On January 3rd, The U.S bombed Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, and captured Nicolas Maduro, the president of Venezuela, for supposedly transferring cocaine as well as partnering with cartels and terrorist groups. The amount of deaths as of now are unknown as this raid was massive. Several bombs have been dropped meaning that civilians in that area may have also been killed. Now, all of this occurred at 3:00 AM, where everyone was asleep and the public wouldn’t know about it until morning. Now, this operation has been practiced by the military for several months and the military have been planning to take action for a while now.
As for the public, they are quite stunned by this at first. However, Venezuelans have seen this as a celebration as Maduro was seen as a communist in their eyes as his poor decision making that did not benefit their country made them see him as an awful leader. But, the entire reason why the U.S. bombed Venezuela was to obtain oil. See, Venezuela is one the biggest oil producers in the world, with them making over 303 billion barrels of oil overall. However, one country is not happy with the U.S. taking the oil, China. China saw this as “oil hijacking,” which is funny because it’s not even their own oil. Still the U.S. proves to us that they are the world’s police and that they will take any action on any country that steps out of line.
