Week 9 of the NFL was highlighted by several crazy matchups that came down to the last second. We saw last-second touchdowns, offensive explosions, and a couple of surprise winners.
- 49ers vs Giants
- The Giants tried their best while missing their starting wide receiver and running back, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to stop the star power of the 49ers. McCaffrey did his thing, and Mac Jones looks like he is going to get a starting job next year.
- Chargers vs Titans
- The Chargers squeaked by the Titans in a game that was closer than it should have been. The Titans were able to stay in the game because of a pick-six and slowing the game down. Being the first Titans game with their new head coach, they definitely showed signs of improvement
- Vikings vs Lions
- This divisional rivalry did not disappoint. It was highlighted by JJ McCarthy’s bounce back, scoring three touchdowns. The Vikings won, 27-24. The Lions need to get hot to win the NFC North yet again.
- Falcons vs Patriots
- Drake Maye stuns again and continues his MVP campaign. The Patriots moved to the one seed in the AFC, tied with the Colts. Michael Penix looked good despite the one-point loss.
- Colts vs Steelers
- The Colts beat themselves in this game. They turned the ball over six times, with Daniel Jones committing 5 of them himself. However, they only lost by seven, so it isn’t the end of the world for the Colts.
- Broncos vs Texans
- This was an ugly game ending in a score of 18-15, Broncos. Bo Nix didn’t look great, but still was able to lead his team to victory. CJ Stroud left the game with a concussion, and the Texans fell to 3-5.
- Bears vs Bengals
- To me, this was the game of the year so far. We saw the highest scoring game of the year, and also saw Caleb Williams catch a touchdown on a Philly Special. The Bengals came back from down 14 with less than 5 minutes left with the help of an onside kick recovery, just to give up a long touchdown pass to Colston Loveland. Ultimately, the Bengals’ defense cost them another game.
- Panthers vs Packers
- The Panthers were able to walk out of Lambeau with a gutty win. It wasn’t pretty, but they got the job done. The Packers’ struggles against bad teams continue, and they are looking very inconsistent.
- Saints vs Rams
- The Rams dominated the Saints, winning 34-10. Tyler Shough, Saints QB, didn’t look great in his debut. Puka Nacua did his thing, tallying 95 yards with a touchdown.
- Jaguars vs Raiders
- This game was a thriller. It went into overtime, and the Raiders lost on a failed two-point conversion by a tipped pass. It was another heartbreaker for Las Vegas, and the future of their season doesn’t look very bright.
- Chiefs vs Bills
- Whenever the Chiefs and Bills play, it’s always a classic, and this game wasn’t too bad. It came down to two Patrick Mahomes Hail Marys, which both failed. The Bills look like a Super Bowl contender, and the question for them is can they get out of their playoff woes and finally get over the hump?
- Seahawks vs Commanders
- This game was a blowout from start to finish, with the Seahawks taking a 28-0 lead in the second quarter, and Sam Darnold throwing for 280 and 4 TDs in the first half. Jaxon Smith-Njigba continued to look like an OPOY candidate, and the Seahawks moved to 6-2. A gruesome late injury to Jayden Daniels is a cause of concern for the Commanders, and I think everyone was wondering the same question: Why was he in while the Commanders were losing by 30?
