- Happy Gilmore 2
As a big golf and Happy Gilmore fan, we were very excited for this movie. We did not expect a masterpiece movie, and that’s okay. We enjoyed the cameos and premise of the story, but there were definitely lots of imperfections. First of all, the idea to kill off Virginia in the first minute of the movie came out of nowhere. We couldn’t tell whether we liked the move or not, but it was definitely controversial. Additionally, we felt like the movie had too many callbacks to the originals and made it so that every character and moment had to be connected to the original. We didn’t like this, and think it held the movie back from being more unique from the original.

- Fantastic Four
We was really excited for this movie. Although it was still very good and original, we felt like the ending and some of the plot points were flawed. We liked Galactus, but we feel like he’s too powerful to be the villain in a non-Avengers film. Additionally, we don’t know why the Fantastic Four would tell the world that Galactus wanted their kid to save their world. Overall, a good movie that could have been better.

- Thunderbolts
We just watched this movie last week on Disney+. Going into the movie, we thought that it wouldn’t top Fantastic Four, but we were wrong. In our opinion, this is the best Marvel movie in years. We thought that the movie had a good message about mental health and really had no flaws.

- Weapons
When this movie was first announced and we saw the trailer, we were immediately excited, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Weapons felt fresh and original, with a creepy atmosphere, good acting, and a story that kept us hooked from the start. The tension built throughout the film, and the third act took a twist we didn’t see coming, which made the ending even better. The movie mixed mystery and horror really well without giving too much away, and it touched on deeper ideas like fear and survival while still being scary. Overall, it’s one of the best horror/mystery movies we’ve seen in a long time.

- Superman
By far our favorite movie of the year was Superman. This new iteration of Superman is easily the best of recent memory, and even better than the Henry Cavill version. The problem with Henry Cavill’s version was that he portrayed Superman too darkly, while Superman is meant to be a symbol of hope. In the new movie, he is that symbol of hope that, despite being all-powerful, possesses the important traits that also make him human at the same time. The movie contains many interesting characters, with Metamorpho, Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, and a great take on the classic villain Lex Luthor. The classic Superman side characters, such as Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane, are portrayed well, too. Overall, the movie had a great plot and a great message, and was easily the best of the year.
