The high school hockey season is quickly approaching and will be here before you know it. With the 2024-2025 campaign comes a lot of changes and growth from the team. Oratory Varsity Ice Hockey has had its ups and downs in the past but has always been able to persevere through it. Over the off-season the team has welcomed many changes, new players, and has strong optimism for the season ahead of them.
Starting off, 4-year varsity players, Meade Gibbons and Francesco LoGrippo have been named Co-Captains for the season. Julian Toth, William Mazzei and Henry Zahn will step into leadership roles and wear As on their jerseys as Assistant Captains. Returning varsity players Jeffrey Child, Kevin Geiger and Thomas Walden will also look to make great improvements this season and increase their point production. The team also looks to some of the younger players that helped lead the JV team to an 8-1 season last year.
The Kelly Division has also undergone some changes from last season. It seems that The Frisch School will be eligible to play this season after they violated players’ age rules last year. Glen Rock will be moving out and Scotch Plains will serve as possibly the toughest test for the boys in blue and gold. We will need some great attendance from the rowdies when we face off against SPF (what is a raider anyway?).
Overall, it is looking like a tough, yet exciting season for the rams. Coaches Hedengren and Louiselle are going to push the boys to be the best players they can be. The program also welcomes Mr. McCutcheon as the new JV head coach and an assistant on Varsity. The boys have been getting dialed in and are ready for the puck to drop in a few short weeks.
