OP Puck Update

Oratory hockey senior night was on Saturday, February 3rd.  OP Puck played Scotch Plains and came out with a huge comeback win. The night started off with a special ceremony to commemorate the seniors: Ronan Davis, Sutton Collins, and Andrew Temo. We recognize these players for contributing to the program over the years and wish them the best of luck in college. The game started off fast, but no goals were scored in the first period. In the second period, Scotch Plains scored a goal off of a Ram’s error. The team knew they could be playing better. Coach Fred and Miles lit a fire under the team and they came out in the third period hot. Straight off the faceoff, Meade Gibbons went coast to coast on a nasty backhand tuck to tie the game at one. Seconds later, the Rams struck again. This time, Francesco LoGrippo punched in a rebound in front of the net. It was now 2-1 in favor of Oratory. The team then faced Verona-Glen Ridge two days later and with goals from Sebastian Leach and Andrew Temo, the team came out with yet another 2-1 win. These wins fueled the Rams Kelly Cup Playoff run as they defeated Nutley-Columbia-Bloomfield tri-op by a score of 5-1. This string of 3-straight victories was the longest of the season before the team fell to Glen Ridge in the Kelly Cup semi-final.  OP Puck will next play Paul IV in the play-in round of the state tournament on February 19.
