OP Varsity soccer had an exciting first-round victory against Pope John XXIII on October 27. Despite being down 1-0 at the half and losing an early second goal, Henry Griffiths responded with back-to-back goals to tie it up. Full-time ended with another goal from Pope John and one of our own from Sean Van Hoven to force overtime. A well-fought first overtime again forced a second, which ended with a goal from Julian Stauffer to win the game. This victory advanced Oratory to round two where they would face Delbarton away on Halloween (Tuesday, October 31). Despite a goal from Max Cook and a well-fought game, Oratory lost 4-1 to Delbarton which ended their state run this year. OP ended the year 7-10-1 and was fifth in the division.
