2023 Dodgeball Tournament Recap: Return of Blauntown Reigns Supreme

Embedded in the first of three OP spirit weeks, the annual dodgeball tournament remains one of the most beloved Oratory traditions. Although, only one dodgeball team can walk-out of Degeata as champions. Reminiscent of last year, the team leaving victorious in 2023 consisted of a Mr. Blauner praising roster. In 2022, a predominantly junior-class roster on team “Blauntown” climbed the mountain top to win the title; therefor, the seniors on “Return of Blauntown” made the team a heavy favorite coming into the 2023 tournament. Though, the road to glory would entail some talented opposition for Patrick Conniff, Robbie Costello, Michael Greco, MJ Cohen, Kevin Parker, Victor Larach, Noah Falcon, Joseph Lioacano, Evan Gurguis, Bobby Bajkowski, Gabe Costa, Logan Costello, Sutton Collins, Hunter Franzese and Mr. Sartori.

After a dominant first round victory, “Return of Blauntown” would face the only team to have beat them in the past three years, as their classmates on “Bruce’s Barbarians” defeated them in 2021. However, the Sean and Mr. Van Hoven led team did not reach the same desired result, and it was made clear just how strong Blauntown was this year by their commanding victory. This was further emphasized by their convincing semi-final win over “Going to DONS,” a team full of junior varsity lettermen. Then in the final, Blauntown completely out-classed a Cinderella story group of sophomores on team Tortilla, winning the tournament and capping off yet another fun-filled dodgeball tourney.
