A day prior to their game against Union Catholic, the Oratory Prep Rams baseball team defeated conference rival Dayton for the first time this season. After a thrilling victory over Dayton, they would carry that same energy into the next game against Union Catholic. Kevin Colandrea would make his first start of the season for the Rams, and he would dominate. The Rams struck first in the third inning, with Joe Loiacono reaching on a hit-by pitch and junior captain Robbie Costello driving him in with a triple to give the Rams a 1-0 lead. Anthony Bibbo was up next, and he continued his hot bat with a two-run homer. This would increase the Rams’ lead to 3-0 and help them gain control of the game. Colandrea would continue to dominate, finishing with 4.2 innings pitched, 8 strikeouts, and only 2 runs allowed. Sophomore Ryan Santoriello came in next and helped the Rams maintain their lead until Kevin Parker came in. Union Catholic would tie the game in the seventh on an error, but Parker would save them with a big strikeout. In the top of the eighth, Matt Seelagy would come in and strike out the side, giving the Rams the victory. Kevin Parker would lead off the bottom half of the eighth for the Rams with a single, scoring the game-winning run. George Fagan would come in for Parker, stealing a base and advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt by Ben Gaffney. Following a Noah Falcon walks, Dante Ianniteli would be given the opportunity to bring it home for the Rams. Dante would single up the middle on the first pitch he saw, scoring Fagan and improving the Rams’ record to 2-4.
