OP Baseball Preview

Blaine Chesnut,

Coming off a rough season, OP Baseball looks for a bounce-back year this year. Coach Blauner is returning 12 players from last year, with the majority having a good amount of playing experience from the past season or two. The stronghold of the team once again looks to be the pitching staff, who are backed by catchers Senior Blaine Chesnut and Junior Noah Falcon. Ace Junior Michael Greco comes off a successful first varsity season but is looking better than ever following the offseason. Junior Robbie Costello looks to continue to dominate hitters with his nasty changeup. Senior Cole “Buzz” Lilore looks to make a big impact on the mound in his first season on varsity. Seniors Justin Smith, Matt Seelagy, and Kevin Colandrea look to be the backbone of the Rams bullpen with occasional starts on the mound. Colandrea also leads the team as the Captain. He looks to make his third varsity season his best as he continues to mash at the plate and pick every ball at 1st. The Rams look to improve their offense the most this year, with most losses last year coming due to a lack of runs. The seniors on the team expect the Ram offense to explode this year with everyone having something to prove this season. The main part of this team that is so different from past years is the work ethic that each guy possesses. The Rams are playing with a chip on their shoulder this year. “Why not us”-Admiral Sommo
