Reaction to the Aaron Judge Signing

Ryan Santoriello, Staff Writer

As a Yankee fan I am so happy that he re-signed with the Yanks. It was a stressful month of November and Yankees fans were on edge from the end of the season, all the way up until the reports of when he was signed. This contract signed by Judge locked him up for a 9 year $360 Million dollar contract, equating to around $40 Million per year. The Yankees may have paid a lot, but for the reigning MVP it was a necessary cost. This was shown by how the Giants and Padres offered a lot of money as well, causing The Yankees to up the price from their original offer of 8 years $300 million. Here are some reasons to why Judge signed with the Yankees over the likes of both the Giants and Padres.

Judge reportedly always wanted to stay with New York. Although, he was offered an astounding $400 Million from the Padres, but rejected it. Yankee executives Cashman and Steinbrenner told Judge that if he signed for $360 million they would still be able to do more moves in hopes of assembling a World Series winning roster. Judge was also told that he would be named Captain, making him the first Captain of the Yankees since Derek Jeter. He is also very comfortable with the clubhouse and the organizations, making close friendships with Nestor, Rizzo, Stanton, and many more. In the end he never wanted to leave, and thankfully, he will be a Yankees for life.
