JV Basketball Preview

Now that tryouts are over, the teams have been decided for the Oratory Basketball Program. The Oratory Prep Junior Varsity team is one that is coming into the season with high expectations. Under second year Junior Varsity Coach Matt Muoio, the Rams are looking to be successful with their ability to shoot and their ability to play scrappy defense. Last last years JV team took themselves all the way into the County finals despite being the 13 seed, and fell just short of the win in the final minute. The team this year looks to do the same but just climb over the mountain top to try and bring the Union County JV title home for Oratory. This year’s team consists of sophomores Jack Olohan, Ben Gaffney, Ian Heffernan, Kingston Nnadi, Aidan Fahy, and Jalen Brogdon – with swings Henry Bolster and Julian Stauffer coming down to play games with junior varsity. The team also consist of four freshmen who all are able to be deadly with their quick moves, and deadly mid ranges. These freshman include Rob Santaro, Will Kostka, Eric Devomecourt, and Ryan Fay. This team could be a real threat due to the ability to allow few points against them, and are hard to stop when running strong set pieces. This team will certainly look to make a run this season, and try to make another underdog story come true in future tournaments.
