NFL Power Rankings Through Week 12

Charles Kline, Staff Writer

Now that week 12 has concluded, the NFL season is about 3/4th of the way through. At this point, teams will be competing for playoff spots which makes a high ranking in the division even more important. On the topic of rankings, here’s my top 10 power rankings of NFL teams at the 3/4th point in the season.

         10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Boasting a 5-6 record, this seems like a rather odd team to put at the 10 position. However, we have learned over a number of years to never count out Tom Brady. In an extremely weak NFC South, the Bucs have a pretty easy route to at least the Wild Card round where we will see what they can do.

  1. Tennessee Titans

The Titans have proved to be a good team, not a great team. I put them this high because they aren’t the best but they have continually put up fights against good teams, even if they have fallen short against those opponents. Derrick Henry is an elite running back and with a rather easy AFC south, I’m intrigued to see how their season plays out.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals currently hold a 6-4 record in a somewhat strong AFC North. This team is performing at a high level, even without the injured Ja’Marr Chase. Joe Mixon has continuously proven to be a top running back in the league. I have a lot of faith in this team, and believe that they can perform at an extraordinary level when Chase returns.

  1. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings have proved themselves to be a top team this season with a solid 9-2 record. However, when they lose, they lose big. There two losses came from the Eagles (24-7) and the Cowboys (40-3). This team has obvious weakness, and I feel that a number of teams could take advantage of this. They also struggled against the Patriots last week.

  1. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are a top team in the league. Sitting at 7-3, their receiving core is beautiful. Waddle and Hill are two of the top receivers in the league, and if this team is on a roll, they will be hard to beat. With Tua Tagovailoa healthy the Dolphins are definitely a team to watch out for.

  1. 49ers

This team is 7-4, but they should be better. They are a solid team. There defense is elite, recently shutting out the Saints. CMC is a great addition, my only issue with this team is Jimmy G at quarterback.

  1. Dallas Cowboys

We all hate it, but the 8-3 Cowboys are a good team.  There elite defense and run game is near impossible to beat. They proved this in beating the Giants, in what was a strong showing of there power. While they are good, I don’t think they crack the top three.

  1. Bills

The Bills are the best 8-3 team in the league. Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen repeatedly prove to be one of the best duos in the NFL. If this team fixes the minor holes in its defense, they could be the best team in the league, like we predicted and originally thought they were.

  1. Eagles

A shocker team with an easy schedule, but a 10-1 record isn’t bad at all. This team has been dominant all year up until recently, proved their dominance against the Packers. Hurts has been much improved with weapons such as AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and Miles Sanders.  In a somewhat weak NFC, I think this team could be a solid Super Bowl contender.

1. Chiefs

Pretty much the unanimous number one team. Mahomes proves that he is in fact the best quarterback in the league, and that he can do it without Tyreek Hill. The defense has been solid, and so has the rest of the offense, but Mahomes is what is making this team great. They are probably the Super Bowl favorite right now. It would not be a surprise if they win it all this year.
