JV BASEBALL CATCHES FIRE WITH A 4-0 WEEK

George Fagan, Staff Writer

The JV Baseball team started off the year with a 4-1 record, but then were hauled by a slump with two tough losses to New Providence and Dayton. However, the Rams started off a big week at Linden, where the Rams would dominate offensively and defensively behind Alec Chichelo’s performance. Cole Lilore would hit an absolute tank, and Ben Gaffney would go 4-4 as they would lead the Rams to a 17-3 win on the road.

The Rams march would not be done as Mr. 4-4 (Ben Gaffney) would take the hill and show his knuckleball dominance to the Brearley Bears, as he would again lead them in hitting with a 22-10 win. Joe Anthony would also crush with seven RBI’s including an inside the park homerun.

The Rams would continue to win as they would travel to play a very tough Elizabeth team. George Fagan would take the hill and pitch 4 ⅓ innings until Caden Breault shut the door. The Rams would win 8-7 where they would complete the sweep of the Elizabeth team.

On Saturday morning the young phenoms’ team would have to face a tough Governor Livingston squad. George Fagan and Ben Gaffney would get on for a Cole Lilore inside the parker for a 3-0 early lead. Joe Anthony would later be driven in by Jalen Brogdon to go up 4-0. Ryan Santoriello would dominate on the mound by only giving up three runs in 5 ⅓ innings. Williams would help Chichelo get out of a tough situation with a highlight real double play, while Brogdon would break the game open with a single that would score 2. The Rams would win by a score of 9-3 with Breault again shutting the door, to finish off a 4-0 week.
