Tennis Recap

Colin Reis, Staff Writer

After only a few short weeks, OP Tennis has played 8 games leading up to Counties, resulting in a record of 4-4 – not too shabby. In the “win” section, we have won against Dayton, Plainfield, Elizabeth, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood, with the biggest win here being against Scotch Plains-Fanwood, who is a division above us and a team we have not beaten in a while.

In the loss column, we have lost against New Providence, Governor Livingston, Cranford, and Westfield. New Providence, being our first match of the season, was a tough loss and was our first match as a team filled with new people on it. Governor Livingston was a tough loss, resulting in them winning 3-2. Cranford was a tough and brutal loss, resulting in a finishing score of 5-0. This match, at least for me, was the most frustrating and irritating loss (no further comment), and Westfield has always had a great tennis program and was a new type of tennis we hadn’t really faced yet. Of the four losses, I’d say Cranford and GL were two matches we could have executed better or have had a different result.

Overall though, it’s been a great start for OP tennis with still about half our season left. Up next for OP tennis: Counties.
