Will The Batman Live Up to its Hype?

Ahadu Kebede, Staff Writer

As of today, The Batman will officially release in theaters. While I haven’t seen it yet, the reviews seem very promising, some even comparing it to The Dark Knight. Rotten Tomatoes currently has the movie scored at a solid 85% Tomatometer and a 93% critic review score. Unlike other Batman movies, instead of acting from villains like the Joker, it’s a murder mystery with only one villain: the Riddler. The movie is nearly 3 hours long, which means there is room for a lot of mystery.

My favorite thing I’m hearing about the movie is the report that it starts off when Bruce Wayne has already been “the Batman” for a year. This is important because the audience already knows Batman’s origin story; we’ve all seen Batman’s parents die from one of the many animated and live-action movies. By skipping this redundancy prevalent across all Batman movies, it allows the viewer to jump straight into the action.

I am going to see the movie tonight, and I wholeheartedly believe that it will live up to all the hype presented in the reviews. Next week I will write an actual review of the movie after I’ve formulated my thoughts.
