Rams Top Pioneers, Sweep Season Series

OP faced off against New Providence on Saturday at DeGaeta Hall. The first quarter– and the rest of the game– was tighter than normal for OP. In the first eight minutes, Pirone’s 3-pointers gave the Rams a 16-15 lead. The second quarter would remain close, with the Rams outscoring the Pioneers 15-13. Coming out of halftime, both teams were jockeying for the lead. But the Rams prevailed and had an eight-point lead entering the final frame. Although it was tight, OP held their lead in the fourth quarter, securing a 60-53 lead.

Senior Tommy Conniff logged a double-double. The Lehigh-bound senior tallied 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Junior Mike Pirone splashed two 3-pointers en route to 15 points. Pirone also grabbed 4 rebounds, swiped 3 steals, and dished 3 assists. Fellow junior Greg Jones scored 12 points, with 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Freshman Asher Bradley scored 9 points and snagged 5 rebounds.

Although there are still more games for OP, the conference seeding comes out Tuesday. They finished 8-1 in the division (9-2 in the conference overall). They swept New Providence, Rahway, and Hillside.

Next for OP is vs Summit on Tuesday. Expect a big crowd.
