OP Swim vs Summit

Charles Kline, Staff Writer

Despite taking a close loss to Summit, Oratory swim can definitely consider the meet this week a success. After all, Summit was a much more experienced team. Ending with a final score of 66-104 Summit, I will go over highlights and key performances from the meet.

Henry Crowther and Dylan Zwally 1 Fly:

Going back through the results of the meet, this is by far the highest-scoring event for Oratory. Not only did Oratory grab first place, but in the process, we snagged second place. In a very close 100 fly, Captain Dylan Zwally and Henry Crowther managed to come back on the leading Summit swimmer and out touch him by half a second — Crowther pulled this off as a freshman! At this rate he is bound to have some records by senior year. This was crucial to Oratory’s success.

The 100 Free:

Another highlight of the meet was the 100 free. Captain Will Foucher clutched a key second place along with Rome Brachfeld grabbing fifth. If the team can continue swimming like this, they will have a fantastic rest of the season.

Relays:

The highest scoring parts of the meets are the relays, and let’s just say Oratory did not disappoint. In the 200 medley relay, Dylan Zwally, Henry Crowther, Paul Knecht, and Conor Heffernan finished second along with Brian Doddy, Robert Massaroni, Aidan Wiseman, and  Luis Lapenta-Sira grabbing a key fourth. Another successful relay was the 200 free relay. Will Foucher, Henry Crowther, Conor Heffernan, and Charlie Kline touched second in the relays behind a much more experienced relay compiled. This Oratory relay is young and if it keeps its steam, we could definitely see some broken records. Rome Brachfeld, Ethan Gaston, Luis Lapenta-Sira, and Aidan Wiseman also grabbed fourth place to score some points for Oratory.

Despite losing, Oratory should consider this meet a success. They lost to a solid Summit team and will come back stronger next year.
