Freshmen Team Crushes Governor Livingston in Crazy Fashion

George Fagan, Staff Writer

The freshmen team’s season has been filled with many wins and losses. Coming into 2021, the freshmen were only 2-2 (including their scrimmage against Barringer), with their last two games being losses against Dayton and Mount Olive. Coming into Tuesday, there were a lot of thoughts on their next anticipated match-up, that being against Governor Livingston. As soon as the tip went off, the Rams had a surge of energy. To begin the game, the Rams would shut Governor Livingston out in the first quarter and outscore them 16-0. They would keep up their run and add twelve more points. By the end of the second quarter, Governor Livingston had scored a total of four points. The second half would play out similarly, with the Rams just punishing the Highlanders. The final score was 47-27, Rams, making that game their fourth win this season.

The highlight of the game was Ian Heffernan breaking the ankles of one of Governor Livingston’s players, causing the crowd to go crazy. Ben Gaffney, Jack Olohan, Aidan Fahy, and Jalen Brogdon were the top five scorers and included buckets from Heffernan, Zabik, and Nappi. The Rams are really looking forward to a late surge down the stretch, so everyone watch out.
