Varisty Soccer Senior Day + Rams vs. Dayton

On Thursday, October 7, 2021, Oratory’s Varsity soccer team held its senior day. The festivities began with a speech by Coach Barresi complimenting the seniors on their growth and development throughout their years with the Oratory Soccer program. He mentioned the joy in witnessing the transition from freshman soccer players to the leaders that they are today. Co-captains Jack Cuddihy, Alex Fudenna, Matt Terraciano, and Manager Aidan Murphy were honored in the celebrations today.

The Rams took on Dayton on their home field. Captain Matt Terraciano, who is usually recognized for his fierce goalie skills and bright yellow shirt, took on a different role at the beginning of the game. He substituted his goalie shirt for a blue and gold Oratory jersey and embraced the striker position in the field. Alex Fudenna was in goal and delivered several successful saves for the Rams. While the Rams were down two nothing, Jack Cuddihy performed one of his signature moves by scoring a header off a pass from Andrew Van Hoven. Although the game ended in a two-to-one loss for the Rams, the day was a memorable one.

A special tribute should be given to these senior captains for the leadership role they have filled. Last year, Oratory soccer graduated twelve seniors virtually leaving a whole new varsity team this year. The seniors have been instrumental in helping the new players adjust and learn the ropes of varsity soccer. Good luck to these seniors as they lead the team in the first round of counties against London on Monday, October 11.
