I’ve always been interested in video games. Moreover, I have always wondered what the best-selling games were. It was interesting to do the research on this particular topic and see the statistics.

5. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

This game is the lowest on this list but it sold over 70 million copies worldwide. This game is only around 4 years old and it’s already a bestseller. Battleground is a battle royale-type game that focuses on eliminating players while not getting eliminated yourself. Another little side note is the mobile version of this game has been downloaded over 1 billion times.

4. Wii Sports

This next game is Wii Sports. When this was released, motion controls were new and people loved it. It gave the game more of a virtual feel as you could control the character with your own movements. This game sold 82.90 million copies in total. Interestingly enough, this is because this game was included with any Wii console that people bought. So essentially, for how many Wii consoles were sold, Wii Sports sold as many copies.

3. Grand Theft Auto V

Without getting into the story, this game has essentially all the great things a game should have. Meaning it has great music, exceptional graphics, a great story, open-world exploration, and even online play. Out of all the other Grand Theft Auto games in the franchise, this one outsold all of them and continued to sell copies regularly to this day.

2. Minecraft

I remember back when this game was new and remember everyone played it. It sold approximately a little over 238 million copies. Little background information, this game is like playing with legos but through your computer or phone. It was a huge hit. You can get so creative with this game, it can literally be anything you want. It has so much replay value because if you finish something, you can immediately try something new, there are endless possibilities.

1. Tetris

Finally, the number one best-selling game of all time is Tetris. This game is so simple yet was extremely popular and has been around for 40 years. It was ported from the NES, SNES, Gameboy, etc. Even a phone version is available and added more to the sales. It was so popular, there is a version on Facebook. In total, Tetris sold a whopping 500+ million copies in total. That is why it remains the best-selling video game ever made.
