Finishing the regular season 10-8, the OP Soccer Team managed to obtain the 7th seed in the Non-Public A State Tournament, the final run of play for the Rams eventful season. Oratory was named as the “Dark Horse” of the State Tournament by nj.com, warning that we are capable of playing competitively against top tier teams as seen by our wins against former Union County Co-Champion, Union, and current Co-Champion, Summit. We also made a successful run in the County Tournament, reaching the quarterfinals before dropping a closely battled game against highly ranked Scotch Plains-Fanwood 3-2. After unfortunately losing the last two games of the season to Bound Brook (3-0) and Cranford (2-1) in a last-second goal in double overtime, we looked to forget about the past and focus on the task at hand. We were pitted against the #10 seed, the Pope John Spartans, and determined to fight to the end, knowing that a loss would result in a conclusion to our season. In an unconventional 2:30 game, the students were dismissed early and the Rowdies sprung into action, prepared for the first whistle.
