For Holy Week 2020, Father Scott Pontes is leading a pilgrimage to Portugal. Open to grades 7-12, travelers on the trip will be immersed in Portuguese culture, cuisine, and religious traditions. The trip begins on April 7th and arrives back home on April 14th.

The trip commences with a flight out of Newark to Porto. The plane lands on April 8th at around 11:05. Students are given free time before dinner with Fado, which is live traditional Portuguese music. The next day, Thursday, April 9th, the trip will move to Braga, where travelers will stay for 5 nights in the Hotel Vila de Galé. On the 9th, students will have Mass, visit the Cathedral Museum, and go on a walking tour of the city. The following day, students and chaperones will go on a guided tour of the city, as well as enjoy a Good Friday Service and Procession through the city. On Saturday, April 11th, travelers will visit Guimarães, the birthplace of the Republic of Portugal, and will be given free time to explore. On Easter Sunday, the group will have morning Mass in Barcelos and enjoy Visita Pascal, the blessing of homes in the town with an accompanying lunch. On Monday, April 13th, travelers will spend a full day in Fatima, including a guided tour. Finally, on April 14th, the group will return to Porto to fly home.

Students in grades 7-11 must bring a chaperone in order to travel. However, seniors are allowed to travel alone with Father Scott and Mrs. Krause as chaperones. Spaces are limited, with only 25 spots left! Be sure to get your deposit in by September 30th. Speak with or email Father Scott if you have any questions!
