Jonathan deMontagnac, Staff Writer

On Wednesday, Oratory Prep hosted Cranford for a conference game. Going into this game, Cranford was undefeated in the conference and did not lose a single conference game by less than two points. Oratory knew that this game was going to be a challenge and was prepared to face it. Oratory’s defense played extremely well only allowing three goals in the 1st half. It was 3 – 0 until 26 seconds left in the third where Oratory’s offense finally scored. After this goal, Oratory went on to score three more goals making the score 4 – 5 with less than 40 seconds left in the game. Oratory’s defense knew that they need to create a turnover and began to pressure the ball carrier. With 30 seconds left, Jonathan deMontagnac was able to clear the ball to Luke Jacobello who then passed it to Ryan Kenny, who moved the balls to Matt Terraciano. With 11 seconds left, Matt Terraciano was able to score and Oratory tied the game up at 5 – 5. In the first overtime, Oratory was mainly on defense until Declan Mckee was able to take the ball away and clear it to the offense. Sadly, Oratory was not able to score and the second overtime began. Similar to the first overtime, Oratory was mainly on defense. With less than a minute left, Cranford took an awkward shot which found the back of the net ending the game with a 5 – 6 score. Ryan Kenny had 2 goals and an assist, Matt  Garibaldi had 2 goals, and Matt Terraciano had 1 goal.
