Oratory Prep vs Blair Academy

Jonathan deMontagnac, Staff Writer

On Thursday, Oratory Prep Lacrosse traveled an hour away to face off against Blair Academy. The first quarter was a closely fought defensive battle with a score of  4 – 2 in Oratory’s favor. In the second quarter, Oratory Prep was able to pull away from Blair, leading 7 – 5 in half time. In the third quarter, Oratory’s offense scored one more goal to push the score to 8 – 5. Oratory’s defense was able to hold Blair to one goal until the last two minutes of the game until Blair was able to score an equalizer and forced overtime. Oratory used an unorthodox method during the starting faceoff, sending three long poles onto midfield positions. This was an attempt to pressure the Blair fogo (a player who only faces off) into dropping the ball. This worked until a Blair player had a lucky pick up on the ball and was allowed a one on one with Jack Holt (Goalie). This lead to the game winner being scored with the final score of 9 – 8. Oratory’s goals were scored by Matt Garibaldi with 5, Ryan Kenny with 1, and Luke Jacobello with 1.
