The Mueller Report: Summary

On March 22, 2019, just 4 days ago, Robert Swan Mueller III released his report on the approximately 2-year long investigation into President Donald Trump. This investigation looked into the alleged Russian Collusion which, according to the report, did not exist. Robert Mueller completely exonerated the President on this front, the front which began this investigation two years ago. However, the investigation did not simply look at President Trump, but his campaign and team as a whole. Overall, “Mueller’s investigation did not find that anyone associated with the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government in these efforts,” according to Attorney General Bill Barr. AG Barr is the primary communicator of the information found within this report as its contents have not been released to the public due to the fact that they are still under Department of Justice review. Mueller’s investigation did not find that anyone associated with the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government in these efforts, according to Barr.

The White House has still not seen special counsel Robert Mueller’s full report, according to a White House official. The public release is still in the works, and lawmakers and politicians alike are still debating over what parts will be released, if not the entire thing, which many Democrats are calling for. President Trump appears very happy that the investigation is finally over, and many reports say that there was a jovial mood on board Air Force One while the President was returning home after the report was released. The President went on to comment about the end of the investigation in an interview later on after his return to the White House, saying,

“We’re glad it’s over. It’s 100% the way it should have been. I wish it could have gotten done sooner, a lot quicker. There are a lot of people out there who have done very, very evil things, very bad things, I would say treasonous things against our country. And hopefully people that have done such harm to our country — we’ve gone through a period of really bad things happening — those people will certainly be looked at. I have been looking at them for a long time, and I’m saying, why haven’t they been looked at? They lied to Congress. Many of them, you know who they are. They’ve done so many evil things. I will tell you, I love this country. I love this country as much as I can love anything. My family, my country, my God. But what they did, it was a false narrative, it was a terrible thing. We can never let this happen to another president again. I can tell you that — I say it very strongly. Very few people I know could have handled it. We can never, ever let this happen to another president again.”

However, many Democrats grappled Monday with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s findings, holding strategy sessions as Republicans gleefully called for them to “move on.” According to apnews.com, “Democrats clamored for the Justice Department to release the entire document and not just Sunday’s four-page summary from Attorney General William Barr.” Instead of accepting the results of the report, as many politicians said they would, especially from Mueller who many said was “the best of the best,” some politicians, like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, appear unhappy with the result which stated there was no collusion. Instead of ending this investigation as promised, some, primarily left-wing politicians, claim they will continue searching for something, anything to prove President Trump was in the wrong.

Trump also hinted at investigations into the start of the whole thing, saying that it tore apart many families and ruined many lives which should never have happened. Even though the investigation has concluded, it appears this situation will surely continue with no end in sight.
