‘El Clasico’ – October 28th

If you were to ask ten people what are the biggest sports rivalries in the world, at least one person would say the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid. The two Spanish soccer teams are some of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world that have constantly battled each other for titles and trophies. Twice every year, both teams play each other in what is known as ‘El Clasico.’ These games have become some of the most viewed matches in sports’ history and provide insight into who will perform better each year. The first El Clasico this year is on October 28th, a date that is rapidly approaching. However, this El Clasico is especially significant because it is the first one in years where both teams will not have their star players. Real Madrid’s legend, Cristiano Ronaldo, left the club for Juventus and has become the star of the Italian League. While Lionel Messi is still a part of Barcelona, he was recently injured and will miss the match at the Bernabeu (Real Madrid’s stadium). These two players are not only the two best players in the world, but they are also arguably the best players ever in the history of soccer. This match almost feels incomplete without these two players and will change the dynamics of the teams and how they play. It is obviously not certain who will win the match, but at the moment the favorites are Barcelona as Real Madrid has been struggling since the start of the season.
