Spirit Week brings joy to the students at Oratory through numerous engaging events planned by the Student Council. This year, Spirit Week takes place during the second week of October. This action packed week boosts school morale and provides the student with an opportunity to bond with their peers in events such as the talent show, dodgeball tournament, and themed dress down days. On Monday, October 8th, there will not be school due to Columbus day. However, the dodgeball tournament is held the day after and the theme for dressing down is sports related. One could also wear their dodgeball uniforms or sports jerseys, but both choices for outfits grant a free dress down day. Wednesday could be considered the worst day of Spirit Week because students will be testing for the entirety of the school day. Although Wednesday is a half day, students are not permitted to dress in casual clothes and should remain in their regular school attire. On the Thursday, there will be a beach dress down with themes and prizes given out for those who fully participate in this dress down day. For those who do not know what dressing down means, it is simply saying that students can wear casual clothes or clothes fitting a certain theme known throughout the school. For example, all dress down days in Spirit week are confined to a specific theme, and students may face punishment for wearing clothes not related to the theme at all. However, if your clothes fit the theme in any way, there will be nothing but good times during this exciting week. The last day of Spirit week is Friday, October 12th. On this day students and faculty should participate in wearing Oratory Pride clothing. If one does not own any Oratory gear, they can simply wear blue and gold colored clothes. Also taking place on Friday, the Talent show will close out Spirit Week at the end of school where students and teachers can perform their greatest talents on stage for the whole school to see. It is a great ending to an even greater Spirit week, so be ready to have an exciting time during the week of October 8th.
