A Stimulating Serving of Mr. Seebode: An Interview

Mr. Seebode, the new Biology teacher here at Oratory Prep, is a positive, disciplined and adventurous man: an outdoorsman at heart and a lover of learning. Mr. Seebode is a nature lover, demonstrating this through his time working with turtles and his profound love for sharks. Before coming to Oratory, Mr. Seebode worked at nature centers, teaching children about animals, plants and the environment. However, the short periods of time he spent with these students caused Mr. Seebode to ponder about what it would be like to teach the same students for a whole year, getting to know them and really teaching the material to the best of his ability. And so, he became a teacher. During his first year of teaching, he had a taste of what it would be like to teach children for an entire year. The children, however, decided to make this taste oh so interesting. The students plotted: they set up a hidden speaker to play animal noises and the Barbie theme song while he was teaching. Of course, Mr. Seebode eventually realized and they all had a good laugh. Mr. Seebode did mention, however, that if something of a more serious nature were to arise he would never call the student out but rather, take them aside and talk it out, like gentlemen.

Of course, Mr. Seebode isn’t just an intellectual, but rather a man of many tastes. When he’s not teaching, Mr. Seebode can be found running or listening to relaxing alternative or acoustic music, or even fast-paced pop music to keep himself going and awake. Mr. Seebode is a fan of science jokes as well, especially those that everyone would get because they’re all “fungi”. Even so, Mr. Seebode has his own thoughts about the current state of biology, and his own dreams about it. He wishes that he could travel to Costa Rica or the Galapagos to explore, discover and view the wildlife for study and for leisure. He wishes that he could be fluent in Spanish out of any language because it would help him in this pursuit of exploration of Latin America for its wildlife. If Mr. Seebode could discover any animal, he would love to discover a relative of the now-extinct Tasmanian Tiger but realistically, would still love to discover an insect or deep sea creature, especially a deep sea shark.

All in all, Mr. Seebode loves what he does. Having the opportunity to both continue learning and working with the environment as well as teaching students is very rewarding. Being able to teach here at Oratory Prep is something that Mr. Seebode looks forward to but that’s not all. “I’m looking forward to meeting more people, really getting to know everyone and having a great time at Oratory.”, says Mr. Seebode, brimming with excitement for his future here at OP.
