Oratory’s Bowling team played their last rounds of the year this past Monday, wrapping up a successful 2017-18 season at Dayton. Although they couldn’t pull it out over the Bulldogs in the end, both JV and Varsity teams finished the season with home impressive records and some podium metal. With a V-Squad record of 4 wins, 2 losses, 2 ties, and one Union Catholic contest that was “misscheduled” (they were too afraid of the Ram bowling prowess), Oratory’s lane jocks continue to make a name for themselves. In the end, the JV team reached 2nd place in their league, and our Varsity pride brought home bronze.

Future seasons may not be so easily won, though  — next year, the bowlers will lose their Varsity star, Isaac Russel. The top-heavy team, currently rife with upperclassmen, will also lose seniors Rob Iandiorio, Blake Carter, and Vedant Mukherjee. Up-and-comers Nick Short, Steven Chambers, Jack Coyne, and Ryan Del Rio must rise to next year’s challenge and carry on the legacy of success.

Varsity bowler Jack Coyne and interim Varsity Ryan Del Rio offered some thoughts on the season, morale, and the future of the team. Coyne admits that he “will miss memes of Isaac yelling at Nick because he laughed on his approach or made a funny noise,” and Del Rio aspired, “I think we have a really good chance of first place next year.”

Overall, this season was a successful one for the Lane Rams. However, the team as a whole will have to rise to the challenge as they lose their many seniors next year. With enough conviction and practice, though, they’ll surely keep the ball rolling.
