Inside Model UN

You may have noticed a diverse group of students gathering in room 403 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and wondered who they are — the answer is Oratory’s Model UN club. In their second year, MUN has been capably led by the team of Tommy Gress, Will Logerfo, Justin Oei, Rocco Rodrigues, and Mike Urbinato, and moderated by Mr. Kearns and Mrs. Otterbein; the club has engaged in passionate discussions in global affairs and has participated in simulations with other schools (called ‘conferences’) to promote the views of the countries we are role-playing. The club has done well for itself, winning several honorable mention delegation awards as well as verbal commendations at the conferences attended over their time as a club. Outside of preparing for conferences, the MUN club’s weekly meetings largely consist of discussion of global affairs. In addition, they will use topic guides from past conferences to engage in authentic preparation by conducting simulations ‘in house’.

Model UN meets on Wednesdays from 2:50-3:30 (or other days as announced on the club email list) and is always welcoming new members.
