Sophomore Retreat

The Sophomore retreat was quite a fun experience. While disguising a “go learn about God day” as a “field trip,” is not often the definition of fun, this one gets an overall 9/10 rating. And yes, I may have been slightly swayed by the free food offered, but, nevertheless, it was an enjoyable experience. To begin, we made a family crest and talked about its meanings. Luckily, in my group, everyone put some nice jokes in there, so it was a humorous occasion. Next up, we made a skit. Here, we needed to write, direct, stage and act this one out all ourselves. Yeah… a doozy. The huge incentive was that the winner would get to be first into the lunch line (I wasn’t). Now, we were more than halfway through the day. The day concluded with by far the coolest part: writing a letter to yourself. So, I wrote future self a letter, and, in two years on the senior retreat, I will get them back. I asked myself questions inquiring about my love life… the usual. I am very excited and wanted to give a shout out to Chris Lowe for giving himself some holy water from the nearby chapel. With that, I returned home to get utterly crushed in a fencing meet. All in all, it was a solid day.
