There has been a lot of talk recently about the “American media proprietor”, Oprah Winfrey, possibly running for president in 2020.  When she was asked about running in October by CBS, she simply replied, “There will be no running of any kind for me.”  It was not until her appearance at the Golden Globe Awards that people really started to ask themselves the “what if?” question.  After receiving the Cecil B. DeMille award, she gave a speech characterized by some as “presidential”.  Although it was powerful and emotional, in my eyes, it cannot be translated into something presidential-like. Oprah has had a long and successful career.  Within her work, she has grown so much in talent and overall performance.  This is what she does.  She is a talk show host, actress, and producer!  With the same logic as calling for Oprah to run for president, I could call for anyone with a successful career as a talk show host to run for president.  These kinds of gifted individuals are naturally good in public speaking and captivating the attention of an audience.  I fully respect Oprah and the life she has worked for, but please keep your talent where it belongs.  Talent in the world of business and economics fits much more into place within the White House than does acting.
