Weird Days of the Year 2

Weird Days of the Year 2

Cole Noss, Staff Writer

Many centuries ago, I wrote an article on the weirdest days of the year. Every day from National Talk like a Pirate Day to National Coffee day was covered. Now after a long-anticipated, 1 year, 1 month, 3 weeks, and 4 days long layoff, here we go to the Weird Days of the Year – Part 2.

There is the legendary 7-11 day. On July 11th, mighty 7-Eleven has huge deals on Slurpees, with everything from giving out small ones, or offering huge discounts. Out of this grew the legendary “bring your own cup” day where, following certain requirements, you can bring your own container and get as much slurpee as you would like.

One of the most unknown days is February 9th. What is special about February 9th? Well its both National Bagel and Pizza Day! This two for one combo is more legendary than most other days combined. With huge discounts on both Bagels and Pizza, this day is truly a testament to human history.

Finally, to end our talk of free goods, we cannot forget about ice cream. Here Free Cone Day at Ben and Jerry’s takes the “cake” as the best free item. April 14th is the date of this fabled day. Also there seems to be no limit to the number of times someone can be a part of this event. In a video published by Ben and Jerry’s, people were saying how they went back 5, 6, and even 7 times in a row.

And with that au revoir, ladies and gentlemen, I’ll see you next year for the third installment of this series.
